Let the fun begin...

Brian had to be in San Francisco for work, so I met up with him and we had a child-free vacation for five days. Thanks mom and dad for watching the kids! We had a blast and definitly saw the sites. It is a beautiful city... if it isn't foggy and rainy...which it was, and cold for most of our trip. Good thing I packed a pair of jeans.

The first night I was there, Brian took me to the Hyatt Hotel to show me the view from the restaurant/bar on the top floor. They had a work party there the night before. We ordered a couple drinks and toasted to our vacation. Brian ordered a "Dark Moon", a BlueMoon with Guiness...sounds weird...but he actually really liked it.

The view from the Hyatt HotelThis is the view from our hotel room. We had a corner room, with windows on two sides. We had an awsome view of the city and the bay. You can see the Bay Bridge in the distance. We had our very first, In-N-Out Burger...we thought they were good...but nothing special, like everyone says... apparently there is some sort of special menu we didn't know about. Anyway, we walked around Fisherman's Wharf...lots of people...really crowded...
Stopped at the Hard Rock Cafe for some Blue Margs...yummy!We probably walked 15 miles this day. The hills are crazy...I have no idea how people walk/bike these streets, not to metion parking a car and not have it roll away. Here is the famous Lombard Street. I can't believe people actully live in these houses and have to live with this traffic daily...insane...but really pretty gardens.

We found a clothing store called Bryan Lee...how funny is that! They actually had really nice stuff, just expensive! We did a wine tour one day. We visited four wineries, they were all beautiful and unique. By the end of the trip I think we had tasted over 20 different wines

We liked this wine the most, we bought two bottles of their Merlot, Whitehall Lane

One of the days we rented bikes and rode all over the city...probably a good 20 to 30 miles that day. I think this was the hightlight of our trip. It was nice to be able to go and do whatever we wanted. The hills weren't much fun but the views were amazing. Plus, the weather was perfect! The plan was to ride through the park, down to the beach, over the Golden Gate Bridge, stop in Sausalito for lunch, and then ride the ferry back into San Fran.

Along our bike ride we rode through the Golden Gate Park...of course to our surprise the Aids Walk was going on. There had to have been thousands of people in attendance. Luckily for us, they had the whole side of the street blocked off so we could still continue through. It was amazing to see all these beautiful Redwood trees in the middle of the city.

Ocean Beach...the Pacific Ocean

Getting closer to the bridge

We rode along this entire coast...and then some

Getting closer...

and we made it!

We rode our bikes over to Sausalito, sat outside and had lunch at a little cafe and people watched. Wow! We sure are poor compared to the people in Sausalito...and San Fran for that matter.

After lunch, we boarded the ferry and headed back to San Fran for our last night in the city...which was probably a good thing...San Fran is a pricy city. We had a great time, but we missed the kids and couldn't wait to get home.

Well here we go...

So we finally joined in on the blogging fun. Not sure exactly what I am doing, but I'll give it a try. Let's just say it is definitely a work in progress.
